Would You Let a 6 Year Old Design Your Wedding Cake?

Well these guys did and they ended up with a cake to remember! I first got the e-mail from the soon-to-be Mr and Mrs, indicating they wanted a wedding cake, but not any wedding cake, they were letting little Addison have free reign on design. FREE REIGN, every cake decorators dream right? and even better when it's guided by a cartoon loving 6 year old!

I grabbed my pen and paper and met with the family to discuss ideas. The gorgeous little Addison had no trouble coming up with a huge array of characters he wanted included, bringing down stuffed toys from his room to help him remember his ultimate favourites.

But one toy in particular - Bunny was the star of the show. A well-loved and favourite needed to go on top wearing a suit.

There were so many characters to fit in that we based some of the tiers around them to help tie them together. The bottom tier became a city landscape, home to many hero movies such as Batman, Spiderman, and Hulk. We added Fireman Sam and Baymax down here as they are heroes too!

Mickey, Simba and Woody were on the list, so we created a Disney tier complete with castle.

He also loved the minions, and his favourite part was the 'Bee-do' Fireman. We pulled out the ipad to give it a quick watch on YouTube - just for extra giggles, and research of course! We decided to put him in the middle complete with flashing light. As Paddington bear (another toy of Addison's) didnt really fit in anywhere we made him a mini toy for the Minion to hold.

No cartoon cake would be complete without Olaf right? So we had a frozen tier with glittery snowflakes and icicles, but Olaf in his summer wear!

The very last tier on top was the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, and of course we placed pizza-loving Mikey at the front!

And see that teeny little boy-teddy that Bunny is holding? It's a little suit wearing Addison!

Adam and Stacey (the bride and groom!) happily helped Addison remember characters, and not ONCE did they hold back his ideas, it was completely and utterly chosen by Addison. There was only one request by Dad, and that was to place Spongebob around the back as he wasn't a favourite of his (But who can blame him right?, I've had to switch that Spongebob laugh off a few times! LOL)

I delivered the cake to the Vincent Hotel in Southport where I shot a quick video of it in action

Annnnnnnnnd it was time for the important part, cutting and eating! Addison's face says it all, he should be so proud of what he designed!

Cute! So.....would you let a 6 year old design your wedding cake?
